What would it be like to be able to speak English naturally & confidently, and travel the world with ease…even though in the past you’ve felt embarrassed and unsure of yourself?

What is your motivation for learning English?

  • Do you want to travel the world?
  • Go to university in an English speaking country?
  • Do business online?
  • Get a job with a company that requires a higher level of English?
  • Work in tourism in your country?
  • Are you just interested in getting better at English because you enjoy it & love meeting people from around the world like I do?

A great thing about being able to speak English fluently, understand native speakers easily, and read English is that much of the best information has been written in English.

You can go online and learn anything in the world you want, for example…

  • how to make money online
  • how to more effectively market your local business & find new customers
  • how to get in awesome shape
  • how to work abroad
  • how to find your perfect partner

All this and more is available online in written English (or spoken on YouTube). Many smart entrepreneurs make a lot of money by translating these online info-products into their own language and making their own versions in their own language and selling them to people in their own country.

Once you learn English you can learn so much more. You will give yourself an advantage over other people in your country that aren’t self-motivated to learn…like you are.

When you learn English fluently, you can…

  • Put yourself in a position to earn more money
  • Open your own successful tourism business
  • Work for a multi-national corporation
  • Do interesting work for an NGO that helps people
  • Travel the world with ease
  • Make new friends with interesting people
  • Live in a different country for awhile & save money
  • Learn many new things online because all the best information is in English
  • Understand movies, music, and literature in English
  • Train your brain to think in other ways
  • See the world from a new perspective
  • Get to know & express a part of yourself you don’t even know exists yet

Since I’ve been an English teacher and a student of other languages for several years, I’ve learned methods along the way that help me & my students learn languages faster.

All the best resources are available for people that want to learn English. This is an advantage you have.

One problem you will have, though, when you decide to learn English on your own is that there is TOO MUCH information.

A lot of it isn’t good.

Some is great, but expensive. Some is free and not good.

Luckily, you have me — an English teacher, writer, and avid language learner — to give you excellent recommendations that could change your life.

Is your goal to learn to speak English naturally, fluently & confidently?

Do you want to be able to speak like people on American TV — normal, natural, modern?

No matter what your goals are for learning English, I can help you achieve them. I’m here to help. Start with these free resources to start improving your English today…

10 Easy Ways To Learn English Faster

1. Every time you think of something in your native language that you say frequently, but don’t know how to express well in English, type it into a spreadsheet. Dedicate one column of your spreadsheet to these phrases spelled out in your language. Make the second column the English translation. Make a third column to write an example sentence. Save it Google Sheets so you can easily access it on your phone.

2. Write the most challenging phrases and difficult to remember vocabulary words on flashcards. One side has your native language, the other side has the English word or phrase. Spend 15 minutes per day writing new flashcards, and 15 minutes per day reviewing the old ones. The act of writing them alone will help you always remember these new words & phrases. You can also use digital flashcards like Anki and Brainscape.

3. Focus on learning the 80% of English that’s used most often because it takes longer to learn the difficult 20% than the easier 80%. Read this article to know what and how to study so you learn faster. Follow the step by step formula described in this blog post because it turns the 80/20 rule into a real study plan. This method is especially effective for learning a language with a different alphabet from your own.

4. Use free resources meant for studying for the TOEFL or IELTS tests because they focus on getting good at the 4 skills — Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing. Even if you never have to take one of these tests these resources will help you get fluent in English faster. Take the free trial for Magoosh IELTS and the free trial for Magoosh TOEFL to accelerate and focus your learning. Also, search for the Magoosh vocabulary flashcard and speaking/listening practice apps in the Google & Apple app stores. Use them to practice 15 minutes/day. Join my Facebook group for more free and inexpensive resources related to IELTS that will help you learn English faster.

5. Improve your listening comprehension by watching American or British series on Netflix and using the subtitles (first in your own language, then in English, and lastly…not at all). Focus on series you’ll enjoy or documentaries about things you are very interested in because you must really enjoy the subject for this exercise to hold your attention and help you improve your English. TED Talks are good for this too.
Another easy and cheap way to improve your vocabulary and listening comprehension skills in English is to use audio books. Click here to take a free trial to the Audible app. You can download 2 free audio books of your choice to help you practice English. If you really like audio books, a monthly subscription to Audible is a great way to keep yourself immersed in English and continue building your vocabulary.

6. Watch this video (and others like it) to train your tongue muscles to pronounce words correctly, and learn to understand the rhythm & intonation of English.

7. Become a better speaker in your own language by utilizing these techniques for speakers and actors, then use the same body language, volume, and presence when you speak English.

8. Don’t be shy about making mistakes. If you get the chance to speak with a native speaker, just do your best and smile as you speak. People want to help you and understand you. Stay calm and confidant, and learn to laugh at yourself and enjoy the process of learning by making mistakes. I have this experience almost everyday in Thailand 😉

9. Practice speaking English with a native speaker 3 to 5 days a week (or as often as possible). Use the Cambly app because you can find many different native-speaker tutors and professional English teachers with various accents to help you. It’s also the most affordable option. Sign up to take a free trial to Cambly here. Preply is another good option (although it’s not free, here is a 50% discount link).

10. Try a “language sprint” with Lingoda. Take small group classes every day for a month or every second day for two months, and you’ll progress quickly from making small talk to having real conversations when it matters most. Learn from native-speaker teachers in online classes available 24/7, with proven methods and expert-designed curriculum that will build your confidence. Attend all of your classes and earn 50% cashback with the Sprint and 100% cashback with the Super Sprint. Hard work always pays off! Click here to see exactly how it works and get started.

Imagine yourself one year from now. Imagine you’ve implemented all of these suggestions and you’ve become more confident about your English.

  • What has changed in your life?
  • What will the new English language skills you’ve gained help you do that you can’t do now?
